Meena Shamaly finds joy and love in many creative outlets of life, and has taken up composing music as one of his prime activities. He lives in Melbourne, Australia, and is passionate about creating music for film, TV and video games. In 2012, he collaborated with accomplished Polish composer Piotr Musial to create the soundtrack for 11bit Studios’ iPhone/Android game “Funky Smugglers”. As part of the EON Sounds team in 2013, he is involved for writing for a variety of media projects, including two feature films.
Meena is as comfortable writing for live ensembles as he is for samples. He has written music for various choirs around Melbourne, one of which has performed his music at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. He has also written for soloists, chamber ensembles, and orchestra.
Also a very active spoken word poet and performer, Meena has been performing his poetry for a number of years in a variety of venues in Australia, including the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne’s Hamer Hall (home of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra), Da Poetry Lounge in Hollywood and the Nuyorican Poets’ Cafe in New York. He regularly fuses spoken word with music, and has performed, composed for, and recorded with many of Melbourne’s top spoken word artists and acclaimed international poets.
